Student Supports

At Westwood, our commitment to our students extends beyond just academics.

We provide various forms of support to ensure that our students thrive and feel cared for.

Our full-time school counselor offers guidance and care to students and their families, while early drop-off or extended-day programs offer a range of activities including fine arts and interest-focused clubs, cheerleading, and sports coaching by Boys & Girls Club of Greater Houston staff, as well as Odyssey of the Mind programming.

Families also have access to social services, crisis intervention supports, and literacy, English, mental health, and crisis guidance classes. Our Communities in Schools (CIS) staff members offer academic support and guidance, and connect families to community resources.

Additionally, we partner with our school community for the Backpack Buddy Program, providing weekend food to qualified students and families. We also provide mentorship opportunities through weekly lunch visits for assigned students.

Finally, we offer a wide range of parent supports to ensure our families are prepared to guide their choice to life-success.
